The games second patch has significantly helped with the frame rate issues, only by charging out nearly to the enemies main camp on a fast horse will you experience this issue, and even then, this bug is no where near as bad as it was. Ambition Mode is fun and interesting way to keep the time while you set up for the upcoming missions, selling or reforging weapons, talking to various allies that you have acquired. Not to mention having added some character byplay's to various missions. Your strategists give you plenty of advice while you are playing too. Also there are no missions where you can just run around and beat up everyone you come across, several of the historical missions involve your characters attempting to flee a battle. Hack n' Slash style games must provide something to keep the game fresh in order to keep a player from getting bored with the game overall, and DW8 provides two different modes, weapon and mount/animal collecting to keep the battles interesting. Even in those instances it doesn't drop its quality. This has been patched and is not nearly as bad as it was, however there still is a minor bit of this. The game itself keeps up well until you run to far to fast for the engine to keep up with you where you will notice a light drop in frame rate as it tries to catch up to you. The are some bugs with the graphics, but it is still a pretty game. Areas that you can stop to catch your breath, like Ambition Mode's camp, you might find yourself leave playing as you catch dinner, or do chores instead of muting like, at least I do, with some games. Your not going to rush out to buy its soundtrack, but the music goes well with whats going on in the game. The music of the series has subtlety changed as gaming becomes more refined. However, those who are new to the genre will still find this as enjoyable though a grind for those achievement/game completionists hunters out there. DW8 follows the warriors of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms era, and tries to be as historically accurate as a game can be. The Dynasty Warriors series is one of the Gaming Industry's best attempts at teaching a History Class, though not the only one out there.
